MESSAGE FROM THE EMINENT COMMANDER

Fraternal Greetings to all Sir Knights,

As the year draws to a close we need to prepare for the year to come. There is still a lot of work to be done and we invite everyone to come and take a part. During November we will be celebrating Veterans Day on November 11th and Thanksgiving on November 26th. During our Stated Meeting on November 12th we will recognize our veterans and present the Military Service Bar to those who have not yet received one. We will also present the Excalibur Award to Sir Knight Clyde Batten in recognition of his service to the Fraternity over and above the call of duty. He has not only served our Commandery with distinction and with great dedication, but he has also served the constituent lodges in the area as well as the Scottish Rite. In spite of health problems and a busier than usual life Sir Knight Batten has risen to the challenge and performed like a Knight Templar should. We thank him for his service.

As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving we should each and every one pause to consider all that we have to be thankful for and give God the glory. As Knights Templar we are always mindful that we serve the one true and living God and that our Lord is gracious to us above our ability to comprehend. When we sit down to feast upon the turkey and ham and the dressing and pumpkin pie we also will feast upon God's glorious grace. We are thankful always to our risen Lord but on Thanksgiving we need to especially take time to say "Thank you."

We ask all members to be present for our Inspection on November 21st. Since our use of the Scottish Rite Temple was preempted for the date of our Inspection we will need to travel to Kennedy Commandery in Baytown to join with Kennedy Commandery for the Inspection. Our Inspection will begin at 1:00 PM following lunch at 12:00 noon and Kennedy will follow us at 5:00 PM. Please come so that we can fulfill this duty. San Felipe de Austin and Kennedy will be able to assist each other with forming the lines, etc. and we will also confer the Order of the Temple. Please come and help! Kennedy Commandery is located at 304 Schilling Avenue in Baytown. Exit Hwy. 146 onto Garth Road and go right (south) one block to Schilling Avenue. Turn left (east) and go about three blocks. See you there!

We welcome all valiant and magnanimous Sir Knights to San Felipe de Austin Commandery No. 1 - the oldest and finest Commandery in the state of Texas.

We all need to invite more deserving brothers to petition the York Rite. We have the greatest fraternity in the world and it needs to be filled with those who are worthy and deserving. We need a few good men.

                                                                     Yours in Christ,

                                                                     Walter H. Parr
